Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson.

Speaking on Kick Streaming (via Last Word On Spurs), Romano has claimed that the Welsh striker remains Tottenham’s ‘priority’. As per him, everyone at the club including manager Ange Postecoglou and the board are all on the same page regarding him.

He does add that in case they fail to sign Johnson, they have other options.

Romano previously confirmed that Tottenham are are ‘working on the deal‘ and that ‘negotiations are ongoing‘ with between the two clubs.

“Now Brentford are looking at different players so Johnson is no longer a priority and Tottenham are working on the deal. Negotiations are ongoing.”

Johnson himself is reportedly keen on a move to Spurs. It has been said that the player will prefer to move to the North London club as he is likely to get more playing time there.

The 22-year-old is one of if not the most important player Nottingham Forest’s most important players and losing him would be a huge blow for them but they will be forced to sell him due to the Financial Fair Play concerns.

Forest are in dire need of some cash inflow after their heavy spending last season and they are expecting to coup something between £40m and £50m for the player. While they value him at £50m, they could resort to selling him for a reduced fee if it means its gets a deal done before the transfer window shuts.

Johnson is a versatile attacker and can play anywhere in the front three which suits Ange’s style perfectly.

Described as the fastest forward in the Premier League with a remarkable speed of 36.70 km/h, Johnson’s attributes make him an exciting prospect for Tottenham.
