‘…willing to sell’ – Real Madrid set their eyes on Spurs star after being impressed by his performance at the World Cup

Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly a target for Real Madrid.

The South Korean is regarded as one of the best forwards in the world. He shared the golden boot with Mohamed Salah last season after scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists in 45 games.

However, he has struggled to find his form this season having only scored 3 goals in 19 appearances, all three of them coming against Leicester City.

Despite him having a rather poor season by his standards, he seems to have caught the attention of Real Madrid after his performance against Portugal in the final group stage game where he provided a stunning assist in stoppage time to win the game for South Korea.

According to Defensa Central via Football London, the Champions League winners have identified the 30-year-old as a potential option to strengthen their attack. The report however adds that it is unlikely that Spurs will be ‘willing to sell’ their star player ‘anytime soon’.

He joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for a fee of £22million and has scored an incredible 136 goals and provided 76 assists in 344 appearances.

He was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before joining Spurs, and Jurgen Klopp has admitted that not signing him was one of the biggest mistakes in his life.

He said (via Express):

“One of the biggest mistakes in my life was not signing him (Son).”

“Outstanding, world-class, and one of the best strikers in the world.

“I heard he’ll be alright. Maybe need to wear a mask, but even with a mask, he’ll be alright.”
