In the midst of the chaos surrounding Spurs’ misfortunes, there comes yet another name to worry Spurs fans. The issue with Igor Tudor’s appointment is quite straightforward: he can’t seem to buy a win.
How bad has it been for Igor Tudor? Well, it’s been terrible for Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur so far. Appointed as interim head coach on February 14, 2026, following the sacking of Thomas Frank (with Spurs in a precarious position just above the relegation zone), Tudor was brought in specifically for his experience in firefighting relegation battles and stabilising teams in crisis.
However, the results have been disastrous, and he has lost all four of his matches in charge (as of mid-March 2026). This makes him the first manager in Tottenham’s history to lose each of his first four games. The defeats include
4-1 vs. Arsenal
2-1 vs. Fulham
3-1 vs. Crystal Palace
5-2 vs. Atlético Madrid (in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg)
Former player and coach Gus Poyet told SunSport that he’s available.
“I mean, I know everything. Sometimes they don’t put me in that position. But you know, I remember before Igor Tudor got the job, people were talking about Robbie Keane – rightly so. They were talking about Tim Sherwood – rightly so. Even Harry Redknapp, they were asking him.
“And I was sitting at home and I’m thinking, ‘Why not me?’ I’ve been there. I know the place, I know the relegation battle. I know what needs to be done. Well, at least I have the experience. I know the Premier League. It’s sometimes funny that your name is not related there, but that’s the way it is now.”
I take the view that Gus is a good guy, but is he capable of motivating this gang of failures? Perhaps not, and a more direct approach, from say a Tim Sherwood or Harry Redknapp character, is more appealing?
