Crystal Palace who were a devil to play only a few days ago, are now a footballing piñata. Seven goals Liverpool fired past their sorry bottoms at Selhurst Park today, taking Klopp’s boys 6 points clear of the Premier League pack. Eze and Zaha, that paring that caused us such angst, were nigh on invisible men. Roy Hodgson, whom many of us were lauding as a coach that had done a job on us, suddenly looks like someone you’d see on one of those adverts for funeral cost insurance.
Clearly, some fans will be demanding to know what the flippin’ heck José was playing at, playing such a cagey game, against a side that are now revealed as being such a soft touch. I take perhaps an unsurprising view that this is a work in process, and there will be bumps in the road ahead. For me, I would have gone hell for leather against Palace, they are halfway down the table, for crying out loud.
José needs to develop a signal, whereby our lads need to know when to go for the jugular. Maybe wave a flag. Given grounds are so quiet right now, what about one of those party popper things?

Ya-man tell dem.
The biggest $h!t chatter on the whole of the internet
Too fkin right
As H said – we are a work in progress
What on earth do you know about winning titles? What have you ever won? You’re talking about arguably the most adaptable manager ever.. The only manager to win the leagues in England, Spain and Italy.. The three toughest and vastly different.. Maureen has adapted many different styles for different teams.. Similar to Sir Alex he plays to his teams strengths and targets the opponents weakness…. Fcuk Liverpool they lost 7-2 to Villa the other day. Did they give you a stiffy then too?…. Watch Maureens post match comments. His half time team instructions were to high press and drive forward… So after putting everything in context, its more nonsense yet again, your football knowledge is very limited.. Have you ever played or managed yourself? Done any of your fa coaching badge? I would stick to strictly come dancing if I were you. Leave this to the ‘experts’ I heard you tell someone once.. You’re no expert mate.
Didn’t anyone see Maureens post match Palace interview?.. Referring to his half time team talk he said the players did the opposite of what he said. He told them not to sit back. He told them to high press and drive forward and go for the win….. This is more of a case where what have the players learnt? Can’t follow simple instructions? Or more like what has Maureen learnt about certain players?…….. Anyone can beat anyone in the prem, we all know this.. In games of fine margins we could have beat palace and Liverpool had we been more clinical.
One trick ponies don’t break multiple records and win wherever they go…. One trick ponies win nothing… Botch is a prime example of a one trick pony.
Liverpool and United each have quite a special hatred of the other, yeah ?
I agree, London Derbies are typically pretty competitive. I would like to think that tempers Spurs with a little bit more fire. I do admit just a tinge of idealistic thinking there.
In this case, Liverpool’s style of play just matched up tremendously well against that Palace setup. Two quick goals, and Palace began to capitulate by chasing the match.
Quite honestly, I really don’t care what Liverpool does. It’s simply incumbent upon Spurs to figure out a way to win each match, regardless of opponent, and let the other Premier League squads worry about themselves.
…
#1, That was 3 years ago.
#2, Spurs enjoyed 36% of possession that match, only outshot Pool by 2 shots, and enjoyed a day where everything either found the corners or took a fortunate deflection.
I cannot imagine your being pleased with that match if it weren’t for that result.
The Palace vs Liverpool game was food for thought indeed H. Yet the remarkable irony is that, for the first 30 minutes or so, Liverpool played a counter-attacking game and Palace were the better side. It was almost a classic, Mourinho style, counter-attacking, master class. Three shots, three goals. Mane and Firmino, top drawer strikers, showing Kane and Son level, world class, clinical finishing.
The difference is, second half, unlike us against West Ham, Liverpool piled on more of the same and weren’t content to just defend. The result was total annihilation. So I think there is a lesson to be learned against inferior opposition. Continue to go for the jugular, especially rather than sit on a one goal lead. Total ruthlessness is the mark of champions.
City and Utd are derby games too, even more intense because of being two rival Cities that goes even beyond football. Liverpool have those two as well as Everton so pretty much the same as us.
We have more derby matches, three meaningful ones Arsenal, Chavski and Spammers.
Fulham and Palace aren’t intense enough and neither are they good enough to be regarded as intense or tricky matches…
Damn, if it weren’t for our intense rivalry with Palace we’d have torn them a fresh one? A good attempt at an excuse. Got any more?
100%
The approach of defending a 1-0 advantage like we did at Palace is not the approach one needs to win a league title.
If you can’t gauge the opponent and step it up, smell blood, get on the ball and put them to the sword at the right moment then you are a one trick pony. Jose needs to adapt or a potentially outstanding season will become a kind of alright one, playing dull football.
Liverpool defend well, attack all the time and they play short and long whichever is required. We are absolutely nowhere near them anymore, did them 4-1 at Wembley under Poch. How times have changed…
Too damn true
The way the league is you need to win most just to keep pace, lose 3 on the trot and we are 12th.
More faith in the strikers and less pressure on the defenders .
There has to be periods of the game when Mourinho allows our strike force to go and plunder a couple of goals, and they are clearly capable of doing that. He can then switch to his favoured kill the game system, which would also put less pressure on the team defending a single goal advantage.
Tuned in to Arsenal TV for the last 15, comedy gold
Joy on one hand, but Everton go above us…we need to win tomorrow…
Arsenal😂🤣
Sessy. Nice goal son. Keep it bumping
We have five London teams all with a huge desire to trip us up, Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Palace, Fulham. A win against us makes their season for the likes of West Ham but like Palace against Liverpool they can’t be bothered to make an honest effort. That’s five derbies against one for Liverpool v Everton.
Spot on, that first half against us Palace were dog meat but we didn’t scent blood like Liverpool did today.
Chris Powell. Love how you’re moving
Big up the pL2 team. Great win earlier. Jack Clark shining. He’s got it that boy. £10mil well spent. Props to levy
