Tottenham have recently engaged in productive discussions with Belgian club Westerlo, part of their initiative to advance player development and establish beneficial partnerships.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, Spurs are focused not only on strengthening their main squad, but also on providing their young talents with essential playing experience.

Westerlo confirms talks with Tottenham

The partnership between Tottenham and Westerlo has already shown positive outcomes, marked by the loan agreements involving Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine, for the ongoing season.

Confirmation of these recent talks came from Westerlo’s official social media, highlighting the growing success of this collaboration.

17-year-old Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic has been making significant strides in the Belgian Pro League.

His performances have underlined his potential and fuelled excitement about his eventual contribution to Spurs’ first team.

In 13 league appearances so far, Vuskovic has showcased his defensive prowess while contributing offensively with four goals and one assist.

This loan stint is a vital part of his development ahead of joining Tottenham in 2025, following the £12 million agreement reached last year.

Midfielder Alfie Devine, also loaned to Westerlo, is gradually finding his place in the challenging environment of the Belgian league. Although he has not yet made a scoring impact in his seven appearances, Spurs remain optimistic about the growth and experience he is accumulating during his time abroad.

These loan deals show Tottenham’s dedication to fostering young talent and ensuring their readiness for future roles at the club.

The recent discussions with Westerlo emphasise the mutual benefits of this relationship, with both teams open to continued collaboration.

Spurs view partnerships like the one with Westerlo as vital to developing well-rounded players. The experience gained by Vuskovic, Devine, and potentially other young prospects positions them for more significant contributions when they return to North London.
