Ryan Sessegnon has posted a heartbreaking message on his Instagram after the young defender suffered yet another injury setback.
Having been out since the summer after picking up a hamstring injury and undergoing a subsequent surgery, the 23-year-old made a return in January against Burnley.
But unfortunately, despite having played just 10 minutes he picked up a knock which kept him out for a few more weeks.
He made a return from the knock with a start in the U21 game last week, but suffered yet another setback as he was taken off injured with another hamstring injury just after 37 minutes.
The club confirmed yesterday that the player has undergone a successful surgery and as per injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, he is set to be out for the next 3 months.
The player posted a message on social media, expressing his sadness over the latest setback.
In the heartbreaking message he also hinted towards receiving some negative messages on social media as he asked the fans to be careful what they say online as ‘words hurt’.
He shared the following message:
“Gutted beyond belief. Just when I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, and thought I was back doing what I love, I’ve hit another setback.
I’ve been down this road before. I’ll pick myself up, stay head strong & begin my recovery in the best way possible. Having been through an operation & the recovery on my other hamstring last year, and knowing how strong that hamstring is now, I know this is the best solution to put an end to the reoccurring issues.
Thank you to those who have sent messages of support – I can’t express how it feels. We’re all human at the end of the day, and I’m devastated more than anyone to have a setback. I’ll do everything I can to be back out on that pitch.
Speaking on behalf of anyone who’s been in this situation, please be careful what you say online. Words hurt & no-one chooses to be in this position.”
TBH Says:
It really is sad what the young player who was once touted as the next big thing at Spurs, has had to go through in terms of injuries in his short career so far.
Things do look bleak for him right now but he has a big summer ahead of him.
If he manages to return to full fitness and impresses Ange in pre-season, he may have a chance to revive his career at the club.
Otherwise, it is not unlikely that the club decides to move him on and replace him with an adequate backup for Destiny Udogie.
