Jamie Vardy scored a penalty and played an important role as Leicester City beat Tottenham yesterday.
The Foxes went into the game knowing that they were playing against a very good counterattacking Tottenham side and they needed to be on their guard to win.
They did manage to find a loophole in Jose Mourinho’s system that has worked very effectively all season and that helped them to get the win over Spurs.
Vardy was speaking after the game and he claimed that they had studied how Tottenham moved to the first third and their intention was to press the Londoners as soon as they had drawn them out and create their chances.
‘We came here with a plan and we absolutely nailed it,’ said Vardy via the Mail Online.
‘We wanted to get about them, didn’t want to give them too much time. We felt we could let them come up to the first third and then when they came to the half-way line we could put the press on, find space and create chances.’
Spurs will face Wolves next in the Premier League, but first, there is the match against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.
Beating Stoke and reaching the semi-final of that competition may give the lads a morale boost as they look to beat the Midlanders at the weekend.
