Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Le Celso has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The 27-year-old Argentine international was on loan at Villarreal last season and he has returned to his parent club upon the expiry of his loan deal.
The player has been linked with a move to Italy in the last few days and his representatives have confirmed that they are currently in contact with Napoli regarding a potential move.
Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Lo Celso’s representatives confirmed: “We are talking about him, but at the moment nothing is closed yet”.
The 27-year-old is unlikely to get regular game time at the Premier League club next season and it makes sense for him to move on. If Napoli can provide him with game-time assurances, a move to the Italian club could be ideal for him.
The 27-year-old has shown his quality at Real Betis and Villarreal in recent seasons and he is certainly good enough to play for Napoli.
The Italian giants are hoping to add more quality and depth to their attack and the 27-year-old should prove to be a useful option. He is versatile enough to operate as the central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. His versatility will be an asset for Napoli next season.
Furthermore, it is fair to assume that he could be available for a nominal price this summer given the fact that he is not valued at Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether Napoli can snap him up on a bargain.
The midfielder will look to get his career back on track with regular football next season. A permanent move away from Tottenham will allow him to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football once again.
