Watch Today’s Daily Tottenham Briefing| War Chest?

By The Boy -

Of course, it’s early days, in fact, this is the very first day of the Premier League window and for a club with a supposed war chest and an alleged greater sense of latitude in respect of transfer activity, it all feels very familiar.

Fraser Forster, as a ‘done deal’, falls effortlessly into the ‘makes sense’ category, and if we are honest with ourselves, the build-up to this summer’s business spoke in an asserted tone of 6 incomings, and additionally, monies rustled up with which to facilitate them.

Liverpool looks to be losing Saha or Mane, or perhaps even both, after the collapse of their quadruple; yes, these are where our competitor’s sights are set.

The last two windows we have signed three excellent players, all internationals with pedigree. The players above are not any more high profile really – they are all extremely gettable

Foster will play a handful of games if he’s lucky. Probably league and maybe FA cup.

Perisic won’t be able to play 38 PL games. So, he’ll be managed to play games in either the CL and a handful of PL games. Nothing wrong with that. But ! If his form dips he’ll get slaughtered.

As for the others you mention. Nothing but click bait on news now and other associated dross. Believe it when they’re in the shirt. Don’t forget, It’s season ticket renewal time. We’re always associated with big name players that never arrive.

I’m ending this conversation on this note. The fact you think any of those players will arrive. Or that you think the likes of Spence is likely to push us forward suggests a level of naivety on how we do business under these owners.

over nd out …

You mix it up. You’d have a point if we were exclusively buying lower league 21yr olds but this isn’t the case – the other two signings are super-experienced.

Most of the other targets are internationals in their mid 20s – the likes of Bastoni/Torres, Richarlison/Rashford, Ward-Prowse/Bissouma. With maybe an Eriksen as a cherry

Our squad doesn’t have the depth of those above us to buy prospects ( Punts) decades of neglect mean we have to buy experience if we are to attempt to compete .
The time to buy players like Spence are when you already have strength in depth.

He clashed with Warnock, sure, and probably needed to grow up a little. They have an exceptional right-back of their own though, and it made sense for all parties for him to go out.

Can’t argue with what he has done at Forest though, the penny looks to have dropped and he has got his rewarda. These are kids we are talking about, we can’t forget. I think back to me at 20 (when he was at Boro) and cringe

The difference is we’ll buy him and we wont play him. Like I say, just another punt. Boro obviously didn’t rate him and out him out on loan.

Not for me. Conte’s football demands a better standard of player in that back three. If we want a big limted stopper we have Sanchez already

In principle. He is not a City player yet as far as I am aware. Not sure why – I guess it is the release clause date.

Wallowing in self pity comes with the territory of supporting Spurs in this era. Of course people overreact. That’s why the internet exists.

Well yeah, it they just want to wallow in self pity, go ahead.

The reality is that it is day 2 of the window being open and not one of the other top 6 has made a signing of any significance. Hardly anyone around Europe in fact

Ultimately the decision to move rests with the player. We seem to have agreed with Porto, but it was down to Diaz what he did. Let’s be honest, the decision between us and Liverpool was an easy one in January. Maybe like a player picking between us and West Ham as it stands.

It has been widely reported Liverpool had him earmarked for this Summer, and told Porto to inform them of any bids so they could potentially match them.

As it was we moved on to Kulusevksi, got him over the line, and he has been an absolute star.

This is the same with Bastoni. We look like we will pay Romero money for him, and Inter look like they could be swayed, but the player has the final say. So we move on.

Liverpool literally just bought Carvalho from Fulham. They bought Matip on a free. Robertson from a relegated side.

Chelsea put Mount and James in their first team after Championship loans.

Stop talking nonsense

People need to stop getting their knickers in a twist. It is day 2 of the window being open and most top players are away on international duty still. The frees can be pre-agreed, regular transfers can’t be sorted until it opens proper.

Forster makes sense. The lad is a proven PL keeper, and is firmly back-up. He is HG.

Perisic is still performing at the top of his game. This is a player who had big club suitors, and someone Conte clearly likes. He is not long-term, he is very much a now signing – what everyone usually wants.

Spence fills a lot of criteria. He is HG, young, and possesses the physicality, running power, and back-stick height Conte wants from a wingback. It seems Conte really likes the look of him, and again another player with many admirers.

Make no mistake, if Conte was upset with these three he’d be walking. Forget the 20m total transfer cost, he has three players he’d trust to use and has OK’d.

Just because we have the money, it doesn’t mean every signing has to be at least 30/40m, nor that it is all spent in the Summer window and not some held back for the the Winter.

The most important thing is getting 6/7/8 players Conte wants and will play. These three signings hav given us wiggle room for the other 3/4/5

Amazing how quickly the Levy Out YouTubers lap up the “War Chest” rubbish…it’s not often anyone knows who we sign, mainly because no one has heard of them…dont have a problem so far with the signings but this doesn’t even touch the sides……..

So it’s him and Royal who are or right sided wing backs this season, Sessingnon and Perisic on the left. Apart from Perisic, we have not upgraded at all….

F*ck me… Levy’s finally let CCV go! It took our esteemed chairman 5 seasons of loans to realise that the boy was never going to fetch 50m. Good luck to him at Celtic, his period of forced labour with no hope of a 1st Team birth are over…

A couple of frees to get the ST holders juices flowing at what could happen. Apres renewal, we will be back on the same old Levy-go-round of mediocrity. Thanks for trying AC, but this dips*** isn’t for turning.

Diaz was a proxy transfer target, Parrot Itchy’s claim that it was “important to be in the race for important players” was the biggest load of patronising claptrap I’ve ever heard. Expect several more big fish that “damn it’ got away again…” this summer…

Yep, more of the jam-tomorrow nonsense. ‘Conte’s’ players will probably going to be the likes of Perisic and Eriksen to do a job for a couple of season’s until Conte moves to pastures new…

Spence does not fit the metric we should be striving for. Only sign investment punts when you have signed the players who are capable of winning silverware and ones that would get into our competitors teams. Buying Spence is akin to investing in a tertiary resource stock on AIM which might find a oil or a gold strike. We should be investing in BP instead to take us to the top level. Has twenty three years of Levy taught us all nothing? As I keep chuntering on about, we just will not buy the players to take us to the next level. Liverpool look to have secured the service of Nunez and will sell the ungrateful cur Mane who claims he will listen to the people of Ghana. Never heard anything so ridiculous in my life and don’t rule them out from selling Salah who is cut from the same cloth. Utd will buy de Jong and let’s not forget that Chelsea have just started and there’s still Arsenal and Newcastle. We have to pay for Romero and Kulu this season or next and I can already see Levy churning out the usual s**t that we have had a great window after we resign Eriksen. We are linked with everybody and sign nobody of any great repute. We’ll probably bring Bale back on a free. It’s all smoke and mirrors as usual.

Another punt… no PL OR CL experience. If we want to challenge for honours I’m not sure he’s the type of player we should be buying now. You won’t see the 3 above us buy players like this to win stuff

This is how to approach transfer windows a la THFC style.

Ignore ALL rumours and speculation. A player is only a Spurs player when he’s actually in the shirt.

Expect cheap punts and words from the chairman that we’re in for at least two maybe three of the best players in the world. All 2/3 of which will go nowhere once he has your season ticket money.

Following this advice will give you a stress free window.

You’re welcome.
