Watch this last-minute excellence from Cuti Romero against Manchester City

By The Boy -

It occurred to me as I was sharing that Matt Doherty moment, that whilst that was undoubtedly a great response to see from a Spurs player, perhaps there was at least – an equally vital move – right at the very death of the game we might appreciate.

Additional time was done, but the referee wasn’t through with us yet. Man City had a free-kick which was rather brilliantly struck, and the ball landed dangerously in the middle of the Spurs’ 6-yard box. Romero’s clearance was powerful and assured.

Quite simply, more, please.

Gil now played 4 full games and came on as sub in another in only 20 days.

Is a wing back really that much different to a full back? Are Trent-Jones and Robertson WBs or just attacking FBs? It’s all a load of bollox really!

I am suggesting that they are both better suited to Spanish football, although it remains to be seen if Gil can adapt. Better scouting and transfer policy might have helped and you can include N’Dombele in that.

You’re not suggesting we should have kept Gil and LoCelso are you?

Kulu lost his man at the back post, can’t tell if Walker’s cross is going straight to him, or behind him… either way a great block that could have resulted in a very different post game mood if it wasnt made!

The problem is, and has always been, finding anyone of quality to come. Needs to be an 18 year old wonderkid or a 32 year old veteran.

Totally our WBs aren’t good enough, but our central midfield was better on Saturday even accounting for sa slow start and some mistakes. If we keep this pair, plus Romero to the right plus Kulu trackbacks (now he looks like a Jose wetdream of a player) we will help cover some of the shortfall in wingback capability

My conclusion is that Sunny Leagues suit some people more than others..though I was surprised Gil went so quickly.Conte does like a bigger team

We are one injury to Kane away from disaster. It is unbelievable that this club has been playing with only one striker in the squad like Kane for several years now. That in itself says everything about ENICs true ambition for the club. Non existent!

It’s all very well playing this system of hitting them on the break when we are playing an attacking team but if we play against a team which sets out to defend deep against us, we struggle.
Our wing/full backs aren’t good enough and we have little or non creativity and guile in midfield. By the way, Lo Celso is playing very well for Villareal and so is Gil for Valencia.

Only jose esque against certain opponents where we assume theyll have a lot of possession. The gameplan and playing on the break paid huge dividends at City and we can adjust it to accommodate other teams of their level.

Defensively we seem to play a lot tighter across the back 3 and back 5 when defending. Then supported by the midfield to go to a back 6 or 7 as needed rather that just leaving the 3 CBs to defend.
That can be used to defend attacks in lots of game if the energy levels are right though will the fanbase be happy with this Jose esq style.
