Watch: Son and Bentancur shared a lovely moment during the game where the Uruguayan dominated but Son struggled

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham teammates Son Heung-min and Rodrigo Bentancur faced each other in today’s World Cup match between South Korea and Uruguay which finished 0-0.

South Korean fans breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the Spurs star start the game. He has dominated the headlines leading up to the tournament after being ruled out due to a fractured eye in the Champions League game against Marseille prior to the World Cup.

However, Son was named to Paulo Bento’s 26-man squad just 11 days after the injury, and had to train with a ‘protective mask on his face‘ ever since joining the rest of his teammates in Qatar and recovered in time to start the World Cup match against Uruguay.

But he did not have the most impressive of outings. He was seen struggling throughout the game and failed to impact the game as such. Son played on the left side of a three-man attack behind Hwang Ui-jo, but he was ‘rather quiet at times‘ in the first half.

While Son did not see much of the Uruguayan backline, his Spurs teammate Bentancur continued his recent good form with another strong performance.

He’s been fantastic for Spurs, especially in the last few games. This season, he has scored some crucial goals, including a brace against Leeds late in the game to help Tottenham win all three points. And he appears to have maintained his form in the World Cup with another dominant performance in midfield.

There was a lovely moment during the game where the two Spurs players were holding hands and embracing each other randomly.
