Video: Harry Kane discusses surpassing Thierry Henry on Premier League’s all-time scoring list

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has scored five goals in his last five matches, including a brace in Spurts’ 5-0 home win over Everton FC. The 28-year-old is having the scoring touch after a difficult start to his season

After the match against The Toffees, Kane stated there’s no secret to his success. The Spurs marksman stated that it’s all about getting chances and having the confidence to make sure they find the back of the net.

“It is all about getting those chances and I am always confident I am going to hit the target,” Kane told Monday Night Football. “I always try to keep the ball low. Hard work and practice, it is no secret.”

Furthermore, the Sky Sports roundtable asked Kane what it feels like to surpass former Arsenal striker on the Premier League’s all-time goal-scoring list as his two goals against Everton put him at 176, with Frank Lampard next on the players to surpass.

“Thierry was one of the greatest Premier League strikers we’ve seen, so to go above him now is a nice little milestone,” Kane said.

“I feel like I’ve got plenty more years in me, so hopefully I’ll keep ticking off those names, keep helping the team with my goals. Then we’ll see where we end up.”

Keith, Harry’s interview after the Everton game was interesting in that he said that when shooting he always tries to keep it on the floor. I have noticed that he often hits the post or the side netting rather than the back of the net. He even did that with the very difficult second goal taken with his left foot. Truly clinical.
In contrast, his penalties are often smashed into a top corner, but I cannot remember him putting one over the bar.
Unfortunately his technique of keeping it on the floor leaves him pretty poor at direct free kicks where success usually comes from an aerial shot bent around or over the wall.
But I will take him as he is, and let Dier take the free kicks! It is obvious how much work he puts into his shooting and his reliability is astounding. As one of the pundits said after his first goal, you just expect him to score those one-on-ones with goalies, whereas most other players you expect them to miss.

Unfortunately, all these records bring him nowhere closer to trophies. Love Kane, but his time to become a winner is running out fast.

Kane rarely blasts into Row Z…. keeps knee over the ball and head down. The technique appears in the 1964 book of coaching by Allan Wade and is foolproof. It becomes more relevant today with the lighter ball. Yet, week after week I see highly paid professionals swing a leg randomly at the ball and hopes it hits the net – Row Z is usually the result or even the corner flag. J Greaves esq used to pass the ball into the goal – never blasting it… and now Kane is mixing Jim’s accuracy with a little more power. Yet, nobody I have seen tries to mimic these two great goal scorers. There is a simple drill. Go into an old fashioned gym with a solid wall – mark a line two metres high – horizontal across the wall. Stand the length of the basketball court away and shoot. Try to hit the wall below the line – when the ball returns shoot again – first time – using either left or right foot as appropriate. Spend 30 minutes doing this every day and you will be worth an extra nought on your transfer fee, or your annual wages.(copyright KHB) with a little help from Allan Wade.

Plus the fact that Henry didn’t have to drop into MF to create chances for his team-mates.How much closer would Kane be to Shearer’s record if we had any creativity in the middle of the park?

I will be forever proud of Harry Kane . He is EVERYTHING you would want in a player representing you and your club.
I am proud of his being the Captain of England , leading our country to glory in the near future I am sure .
But , on the human side , a nicely humble man who must be aware of the records he is smashing at a daily rate .
God love ya Harry , please , please stay forever , but if you cant , you can go with my blessing as you probably are the best player we have ever produced or played for us.
That list would include Mackay , Greaves , Hoddle , Ardiles , Modric et al, but honestly has any one man given us the consistent joy and in such understated fashion ?
Goal-scoring records apart , Spurs fans deserve just one shot of you lifting a serious title , your legacy preserved FOREVER …………
Harry , King o’ the Lane , I salute you .
