When plumbing the depths of one’s goodwill in games like these – think Sky Sports’ politicized decision to award Dele Alli with the Man Of The Match Award last night more of which later – people tend to bend over backward to find the good in performances that were in truth, not all that worthy of much or any praise at all. Pierre Hojbjerg is a player that doesn’t need to be indulged by anyone.

This is the sort of action that changes games.

Monster player
Nice Work HH, that’s some good stuff.
He’s been sent from the future
Too many fans – mostly millennials – were more interested in yelping with delight every time a facility was announced – not a single thought was given to how this mess was ever going to be cleared up. The ‘half’ promise that the stadium would improve us was always a gaping lie, it might only improve ENIC.
COVID-19 has killed everything for them and I couldn’t be happier. It’s like skipping to the last page of a really bad book, you save yourself the trauma of having to wade through every page. In fact, the only chance ENIC have is if the UK gov stops treating a virus with a 97.3% survival rate as the Black Death – and that’s never going to happen, so Levy is stuffed. What a pity.
The problem is that any funds raised by selling players will not be used for new player recruitment. Those fans , deluded enough to think that Levy is doing a good job, might stomach the sale of HK and or Son, but if that money is merely going to pay down debt, where does that leave us. As I mentioned before, this is a pretty terrifying look into the future.
PEH has made himself indispensible, just like Kane.Heaven help us if he picks up a bad injury as he is being overplayed with no comparable substitute..It will happen eventually.
No disrespect to Football Insider – but this isn’t inside information. Eviction orders on private dwellings have been deferred but in the commercial world, things are less forgiving.
The stadium will not be opened up properly before August. I’d expect a few to start coming back next season, but not enough to make any real money from.
Levy & Co. will have no option but to have a fire sale as they say in Lawrence of Arabia, ‘it is written’.
No backstory!
Hojbjerg has been nothing short of brilliant. Got signed up, started playing and immediately made himself one of the first names on the team sheet. No excuses, no arriving unfit, no getting used to a new style of play. He just gets on with it.
Refreshing.
Has anybody read the piece by Kieran Maguire in Football Insider this morning? I have no idea if he is a reputable journo or not or whether the website is a serious one but he states that Spurs are likely to suffer a loss of £150 mill this season if the stadium remains closed for the rest of the season and that they still have to repay the £175 mill loan to the BoE. This means player sales to plug the loss. Given the state of the market, players values have plummeted and that the only two players who would appeal to the top clubs and who would raise decent money would be Kane and Son. This leads me to the inevitable conclusion that HK will be sold and maybe Son as well. The consequences are that any money raised from these sales will not be used to strengthen the squad but would be used to pay down debt. Scary stuff!
