“VAR… sure, and if my auntie had wheels, she’d have been a bicycle” The Boy Blasts Spurs And Ryan Mason | video

By The Boy -

I was unimpressed with not just the game, but what the future appears to hold for Tottenham Hotspur fans at this point in time.

Leeds United put Spurs to shame and instead of relying upon glimpses of individual talent, Marcelo Bielsa’s boys showed the sort of unity and determination that just doesn’t exist anymore within our squad. I felt they might have been able to play for another half an hour, perhaps even find a fourth goal.

Leeds gave Spurs plenty to think about today. None of the thoughts were happy ones.

Michael Oliver blew the whistle for their second goal, and then waved advantage. You can’t do this, the game should have stopped. No one will question it because VAR never question his decisions as he’s the golden boy.

Offside line for Harry’s first disallowed goal was not done with the thinner lines and it was too close to be called a mistake by the linesman.

Did we defend like morons? Yes. But the key decisions today were poor.

One team wanted it more, simple as that. If we had out-worked Leeds and shown greater hunger than a team who had nothing to play for, our superior technical ability would have been enough, but we didn’t and it wasn’t.

For sure the VAR decision was very marginal and we were probably hard done by, but the fact is if Hugo had not been on top form we could have shipped 6, against a team of ‘no-names’, who nevertheless outplayed us as a team.

Because Leeds were absolutely brilliant. They were absolutely everything we weren’t ; cohesive, tuned in, well drilled, together, hungry.
We were absolutely sh1te.

I am feeling more and more like Jose decided some time ago that he’d given these muppets 18 months and that he wasting his time with them and this club if he wanted any more silverware in his career.

I suspect Harry will soon come to the same conclusion, if he hasn’t already.

Watching their third goal again sums up Spurs this season. The whole defence was missing. And there it is. All season we have players, or a whole part of the team go missing. No togetherness, no cohesion, no pattern of play or tactics. Just 11 players playing football for themselves.

Dier has to rank as one of the worst defenders we’ve had in the last decade. His inability to defend or understand the role baffles me. Telling the world you are a good centre half as he often does and actually being one are two very different things.

Mason did not have a good day today. How does Aurier not know which foot Harrison always wants to cross with (their first goal)?

It does not take much video to know that you cannot press Leeds from the back. And if you do, your back line has to be high and marking somebody tightly, like they did to us. With our back line dropping deep, they ran through us as if they were training against their U14 academy team.

He also got his subs all wrong. Lo Celso and Son were ineffective, they turned the ball over constantly, as they usually do when they are marked as tight as Leeds marked us. Bale and Dele were able to hold the ball up almost every time and make something happen – they were also much better dropping back and defending. We saw the results of these terrible subs as they destroyed us after Bale/Dele went off.
