“Undergoing a medical” – Sky Sports reporter drops fresh Tottenham update

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur is on the brink of completing the signing of Pedro Porro as the player is currently undergoing a medical at the club’s training ground, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

This move comes as Spurs’ head coach Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Porro is undergoing medical tests ahead of his switch to Tottenham.

The initial deal according to Bridge, will be a loan move for £5 million, with an obligation to make it permanent for £39 million. He also suggested that the high-profile signing might get Doherty’s shirt.

Bridge told GiveMeSport:

“Pedro Porro is still undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Tottenham. It’s an initial loan for £5million and then will become a permanent deal for £39million. This was a financial deal which Sporting wanted.

“He is clearly a high-profile signing, so some fans will want to get his number on their back. He might even be No.2 due to Matt Doherty’s shock loan move to Atletico Madrid, but there has been no confirmation on that as yet.”:

The Spaniard is set to sign a five-and-a-half year contract with Spurs, making this a significant signing for the club.

Despite initial difficulties, Tottenham and Sporting have managed to reach a compromise and agree on the terms of Porro’s transfer.

Sporting reneged on the proposed move on Monday, leaving the 23-year-old distraught.

However, the intensive talks resulted in the initial temporary deal, which includes the obligation to make the switch permanent for £39 million.

According to Romano who told GiveMeSport, Tottenham could still be in the market for another signing after Porro’s move is confirmed.

The Sky Sports reporter has hinted that Doherty’s imminent departure for Atletico Madrid could result in Porro being handed the No. 2 squad number.

Along with Doherty, another right-wing-back, Djed Spence, could also be on his way out of Tottenham for a loan move to Rennes.

Tottenham’s signing of Pedro Porro is a major coup for the club. The player has a bright future ahead of him and has shown great promise in his career so far. The initial loan move for £5 million with an obligation to make it permanent for £39 million is a smart move by Tottenham, as it allows them to assess the player’s potential before making a more significant investment.

With the 11pm transfer deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham makes any more moves to strengthen their squad.
