“Turning into a bit of a nightmare” Pundit points the blame in one direction for Tottenham mess

By Bruce Grove -

Former Blackburn striker, Chris Sutton has questioned Tottenham’s decision to hire Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager following their latest set of poor results.

Spurs have lost their last three league matches after opening the campaign with three consecutive league wins.

The Lilywhites reached a new low at the weekend when Arsenal beat them 3-1 in the North London derby.

That is the third consecutive time they have conceded three goals in a game in the league this season and it doesn’t speak well of Nuno Santo.

Spurs hired him as their boss after missing out on several of their top targets in the summer and his appointment looks like a bad business decision right now.

Sutton says he understands Nuno has been put in a tough position but is concerned at how uncoordinated Tottenham’s players were in the derby.

He claimed they looked confused about what to do before adding that Spurs fans will not get the style of football they want from Nuno Santo.

However, he does not blame Nuno for the mess, he points his finger elsewhere.

Sutton said to the BBC: “He’s been put in an incredibly difficult situation, there’s no doubt about that.

“But Nuno’s comments blaming himself after the Arsenal game were worrying, and blaming the players as well.

“There were players not running back, unsure about what jobs they were being asked to do. They were a complete and utter shambles. I don’t think Spurs fans will ever get the type of football they want under Nuno. Chuck in the Kane stuff as well and it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare.

“The appointment simply didn’t fit and that’s on [chairman] Daniel Levy.”

I think he’s aware of these things, I just don’t think he cares enough or has ever seen fixing these endemic problems as advantageous to ENIC. Mainly down to what he regards as the level of ‘risk’ involved.

He wants to run Selfridges on a winkle shop budget. Poch made it look like that might actually be viable for a few seasons, but it never was….

Levy lives in his own little bubble and seems to believe his own propaganda machine. I suppose if you completely isolate yourself from the reality that is what happens.

It is interesting to note that that Levy leaked a story to the press recently that he was close to signing a ten year deal deal for the naming rights for the new stadium. He then claimed that the club was now worth £3.5 billion, a valuation all of his own. levy’s PR dept always put out these absurd rumours in the continuous good days to bury bad news. It is like the good players that we are consistently linked with during transfer windows before we buy Carlos Kickaball. It exactly the same with the managers we were linked with before Levy appointed the hapless Nuno. Now we hear that Potter didn’t want to work under Levy, a very sensible decision. The jig is up for Levy. No decent manager wants to work for him and only players without real ambition to win things agree to sign for us. The amazing thing that this reveals is that Levy is completely unaware of all these problems as he is completely tone deaf.

I’ve got nothing against Nuno either…..he was sold a mickey!!

He like jose cannot get these players to perform.

There is definitely an undercurrent going on at the club.

It will fester until the owners sell up and go.

This is why although he is on borrowed time I dont blame Nuno in fact even though I hate Levy it was all down to the Italian idiot.

Makes no difference. If Levy is your Boss then you are Toast, sooner or later. Throw Paratici into the mix and Jesus Wept. 🤔

Nuno is a dead man walking

Everyone knows where the faults lie…..we have had 20 years of clues.

There’s a report saying the current Brighton manager wasn’t interested of joining because of a certain individual at our club.
