Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is still the “favourite” for the Tottenham job, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The 35-year-old German coach has been linked with the Tottenham job since his sudden dismissal from Bayern Munich.
The North London club are yet to appoint a permanent manager since sacking Antonio Conte in March and Nagelsmann is one of the top names on Tottenham’s list of potential candidates.
Despite recent reports of a snag in talks due to the German’s concerns over who the next sporting director will be and the role he would play in recruitment, Jones believes Nagelsmann is still the favourite for the job.
Jones told GIveMeSport:
“Ultimately, Nagelsmann still seems like the guy in pole position for that job.
So, unless something falls down with Nagelsmann or one of the parties gets cold feet, he will remain the favourite for the job.”
Nagelsmann is considered one of the best young managers in world football. He impressed during his time at RB Leipzig, guiding the team to the Champions League semi-finals in 2020. He then went on to manage Bayern Munich but was dismissed after one season, despite winning the Bundesliga title.
Tottenham are looking for a manager who can bring stability and success to the club, having had four different managers in the last three years.
The appointment of Nagelsmann could bring renewed hope for Spurs fans, as they look to compete with the top clubs in the Premier League.
