Transfer insider claims key Tottenham man is proving to be ‘a major problem’ for Spurs behind the scenes

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham’s search for a new manager has been ongoing for some time now and they are yet to appoint a permanent manager since sacking Antonio Conte in March.

However, their search has hit a snag as they are facing difficulty in convincing potential candidates to take the job due to the uncertain future of their star striker, Harry Kane.

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Tottenham’s inability to provide assurance over Kane’s future is making it difficult for them to convince potential candidates to take the job.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Jones explained that the club is unable to promise the new coach that Kane will stay or provide them with a budget for a new striker if the Englishman departs this summer.

He said:

“Now listen, a big problem in recruiting a new coach is convincing them that Harry Kane is going to be there or telling them that he’s not and they’ll have X amount to spend on a new striker, that is a major problem.”

Kane’s future at the club has been in doubt for some time, with Manchester United said to be making him their top target. Bayern Munich and PSG are also said to be interested in him.

This uncertainty has made it challenging for Tottenham to attract top managers to the club.

With the current season coming to an end, the club is under immense pressure to sort out these issues and get things stable as soon as possible.

The club is yet to make some key decisions, including hiring a new sporting director and sorting out Kane’s contract, both of which could have a significant impact on their managerial appointment.

Tottenham will need to act quickly and make some decisive moves if they are to rebuild the club and get back to competing at the top level.
