Tottenham’s managerial target arrives in London ahead of talks

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

The club had him in the list of candidates to replace Conte long before they sacked the Italian.

The Times previously reported that Luis Enrique is ‘open’ to any approaches from Tottenham and is keen to work in the Premier League.

And according to the latest report from Sport, Spurs ‘stands out’ as the ‘most likely destination’ for the Spaniard along with Chelsea.

Chelsea who are in the same boat as Spurs having fired Graham Potter are also strongly linked with a move for Luis Enrique.

And now Fabrizio Romano has reported that Luis Enrique has arrived in London with his representatives ahead of talks with the Blues.

Romano tweeted:

Luis Enrique has arrived in London with representative in order to discuss with Chelsea — can confirm he’s in England right now.

Luis Enrique, 100% keen on Chelsea job. Chelsea will also continue talks with Nagelsmann, favourite candidate.

Even though it is not reported, it would not be a surprise if Enrique also uses the opportunity to meet with Tottenham.

According to 90min, the Spaniard also “had contact with Tottenham”, who are also keen to hold talks with him.

Enrique has been open about wanting to manage in the Premier League next and it looks like his next destination is going to be one of the London clubs.

He has won nine trophies with the La Liga giants, including the Champions League. He has previously been described as “one of the best managers” by Pep Guardiola
