“Will 100% sign…” – Romano breaks ‘news of the day’; confirms Spurs want to get deal done fast

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo.

The French defender has been strongly linked with a move to Spurs and there has been fresh developments regarding it.

Romano claimed earlier Spurs have opened talks with Nice over the possible move for the defender who is high on Tottenham’s transfer list.

And the transfer expert has now shared the latest on his YouTube channel.

According to Romano, Spurs have laid the groundwork to sign Todibo having spoken to the player’s camp as well as his club.

He claimed that Spurs are moving fast and want to get the deal done for a centre-back early in January.

He said on his YouTube channel (2:13 onwards):

“Another player who could join Premier League football in January and this (is) Jean Clair Todibo.”

“This is an important news of the day, guys, because Tottenham, from what I understand, started the conversations to sign Todibo in January.

“So Tottenham will 100 percent sign a new centre-back in the January window and Todibo is one of the top targets.

“Not the only one – I’m told – in the shortlist, there are also other names, but in the last seven days Tottenham spoke to player side, to player’s camp and also to Nice, to understand about the conditions of the deal.

“So Tottenham want Todibo but the timing will be important. Tottenham want to be fast on this deal, they don’t want to spend one month negotiating with Nice and with the player.

“So the conversation is ongoing, Tottenham are trying.”

The defender is said to cost around £35m which could prove to be a bargain for Spurs.

He is considered as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 and would be a great signing for Spurs who are in desperate need of a centre-back given their squad crisis.

Spurs only have one fit centre-back right now and that’s Cristian Romero. Micky van de Ven is out with a long-term injury and is not expected back for another month.

Meanwhile Eric Dier is not only out injured but also not favoured by Ange Postecoglou, and could possibly be on his way out in the upcoming window.

A new centre-back is a must for Spurs and this update from Romano is an extremely encouraging one.
