Tottenham have been warned against signing the RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish international has been a standout performer for RB Leipzig in recent years. His consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest and Tottenham are one of the clubs that have been linked with the attacking midfielder.
Spurs are keen on signing Olmo ahead of next season. He has a release clause of just £55.8 million which could be seen as a bargain price for someone with his abilities. While Tottenham are willing to push for his signature, they have been warned by Dr Rajpal Brar who believes the shoulder injury that he picked up a while ago has a chance of recurring.
The injury expert while talking to Tottenham News said: “Olmo suffered a serious injury in October which kept him out for the rest of the year.
“It was an acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation, colloquially a separated shoulder.
“The problem with these is there is an increased risk for recurrence and if it does continue to occur, there’s the possibility for surgery needed.
“So Spurs, or any club signing him this summer, will need to be careful as there is a possibility he could be ruled out for months if things get aggravated.“
Olmo could be a great signing for Spurs, he will add depth to the flanks and will also compete with James Maddison for a place in the central areas. He will add more firepower to their attack. Olmo is still only 26 and he could improve further at the North London club.
But, Tottenham have now been made aware of the risk in potentially signing the Spanish attacker. The shoulder injury he sustained back in October has a chance of recurrence. In that case, Olmo might have to opt for surgery which could keep him out for months.
There is no doubt he is an exceptional player but if he isn’t available, he won’t be of any help to Ange Postecoglou’s team. As a result, Spurs will have a big call to make with regards to their pursuit of the Leipzig star.
