Tottenham wants player that Manchester United is working hard to sign

By Bruce Grove -

Express Sport claims that Tottenham wants to sign Pau Torres.

The Spanish defender has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in Europe at the moment as he continues to star for Villarreal in Spain, and in the Europa League.

The report claims that Manchester United is keen to land him as well, and the Red Devils are already making plans to create room for his arrival.

He will cost any team that wants to sign him around £60million, which is the exact amount written into his release clause.

Considering the coronavirus pandemic, that fee might be considered too high for a player who has just a few seasons of top-level football under his belt.

Team Talk says that in their bid to land Torres, Manchester United is willing to offload the likes of Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, and Eric Bailly.

Tottenham signed Joe Rodon in the last transfer window and the club now has four senior centre-backs, without adding Japhet Tanganga.

Torres will be a fine addition, but it is hard to see why Jose Mourinho would want to spend that much money on him when he has other options that can get the job done.
