Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new striker intensifies as the summer transfer window approaches, with the club aiming to secure a marquee forward to fill the void left by Harry Kane.
According to the latest from Football Insider, Spurs are aiming to secure a marquee striker this summer to replace Harry Kane, with several top targets identified.
According to Pete O’Rourke on Football Insider’s latest podcast, Tottenham are prioritising the signing of a big name forward, with Toney and Solanke emerging as the potential options.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney is expected to be one of the most sough-after strikers in the upcoming transfer widnow with a host of Premier League clubs said to be after him. He is entering the final year of his contract, which expires next June. This situation suggests he is likely to move this summer.
The 28-year-old has recently been named in England’s provisional squad for the Euros and has long been on Spurs’ radar.
Toney’s impressive performance in the 2022-23 Premier League season saw him score 20 goals in 33 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in the division, behind only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
With his contract nearing its end, Brentford are inclined to sell him to avoid losing him for free next year.
Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke has also caught Tottenham’s attention. The 26-year-old forward enjoyed an outstanding season, netting 21 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, ranking him as the Premier League’s fourth joint-top scorer.
Solanke is under contract with Bournemouth until 2027, but his recent form and proven goal-scoring ability make him an attractive option for Spurs.
With Harry Kane’s departure creating a significant gap in Spurs’ frontline, the signing of a top-tier striker is imperative for the club’s ambitions.
