Tottenham are reportedly considering bringing back former midfielder Harry Winks during the January transfer window.
After making several summer signings, Spurs are now looking to add experienced reinforcements to their midfield, and Winks has emerged as a potential target.
Reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes indicate that Tottenham are “determined” to pursue this move, even though it could mean a net financial loss of around £22 million compared to his initial transfer fee.
The Lilywhites are reportedly ready to offer approximately £32 million to re-sign the 28-year-old Englishman.
Winks has been a key figure for Leicester City since joining them in July last year on a three-year contract for around £10 million.
His influence at the King Power Stadium was felt immediately, debuting in a 2-1 victory over Coventry City and later delivering a standout performance against Norwich City.
Winks played a crucial role in Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign last season, which secured their return to the Premier League and marked his first major trophy win.
Tottenham’s renewed interest in the midfielder follows his growth in leadership and gameplay at Leicester.
Harry Winks’ Tottenham career
Winks is a Spurs academy graduate who developed and broke into the senior team, where he became a reliable midfield option, specially under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. He made 203 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and assisting six.
Bringing Winks back would infuse the squad with valuable Premier League experience and strengthen the club’s homegrown player pool, aligning with manager Ange Postecoglou’s vision for a balanced and competitive team.
The club is said to be keen on bolstering their midfielder despite signing Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray in the summer. They wanted to sign another midfielder last summer with the likes of Jacob Ramsey strongly linked but a move did not materialise.
Winks could play a key role in enhancing Tottenham’s midfield depth for a strong push in the latter part of the season.
