Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for the Portuguese club and they are hoping to hold onto him beyond this season. The midfielder has been linked with the move away from Portugal and Spurs reportedly have him on their ‘shortlist’ according to a report from the Portuguese publication Record via SportWitness.
The report states that Tottenham scouted the midfielder back in February and it remains to be seen whether they decide to follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign him at the end of the season.
Hjulmand will add defensive cover and physicality to the Tottenham midfield. They need to add more depth to the position and the 24-year-old could be the ideal acquisition. Yves Bissouma was outstanding during the first half of the season but he has been quite underwhelming in recent weeks.
Tottenham could use Morten Hjulmand
Spurs need another defensive midfielder and the increased competition for places will help the squad improve.
However, a move for Hjulmand could be complicated because the midfielder happens to be an Arsenal fan, and he has a tattoo of the Arsenal crest on his arm. Such a move might not endear him to the Tottenham faithful, and it remains to be seen how the situation situation unfolds.
It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in a quality midfielder at the end of the season and someone with defensive qualities would be ideal. The north London outfit have been linked with other midfielders like Ederson Dos Santos from Atalanta as well. It will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually.
