Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in the services of Chelsea star Conor Gallagher.
Tottenham are looking at ways to further bolster their squad ahead of next season. Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has been on the North London club’s wishlist for a while now and according to a report from the Independent, Spurs are keen on signing the England international who could be sold by June 30.
Gallagher’s future at Chelsea has been uncertain for quite some time now. He was linked with a move away last summer as well but he ended up staying at the club. The 24-year-old midfielder featured in 50 matches in the 2023/24 season and contributed towards 16 goals.
He was one of the standout performers for the Blues. Despite that, his future is still uncertain. Contract renewal talks have already reached a standstill. With just over a year left on his deal, Chelsea are now looking to sanction his departure.
The Blues are in desperate need of making major sales before June 30, to avoid any breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Gallagher is one of their most saleable assets given the kind of performances he has put in. More importantly, he is a homegrown player and the money raised from his departure will be registered as 100 per centre pure profit.
With the Blues possibly looking to offload Gallagher before June 30 to raise funds, Tottenham are pushing hard for his signature as they feel he could be an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play. But, they are not the only club keen on him and they might need to compete with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa for the 24-year-old’s services as well.
