Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Conor Gallagher for months now.
The 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder was a target for the North London club in January as well and they are currently waiting to find out if he will be made available in the summer.
In case the Chelsea midfielder is not available at the end of the season, Tottenham will switch their attention towards the Everton midfielder James Garner.
Dean Jones revealed on GMS: “Garner is probably a Gallagher alternative that Tottenham might look at. Obviously, it’s very early days to be analysing the summer transfer window. We know that Tottenham are still waiting to see if Conor Gallagher does become available because there is a feeling still that he might and the longer that contract situation goes on, the longer they will believe that something might be able to happen. But if Conor Gallagher does end up signing a contract extension, they need to have a list of names they immediately turn to. And I guess James Garner kind of fits the profile somewhat so yeah, an interesting one to look out for.”
Gallagher has been linked with a move away from Chelsea and the Blues could look to sacrifice him to raise funds for their own signings. Chelsea have spent freely since the takeover and they will need to comply with the financial regulations now.
Gallagher could prove to be a quality addition to the Tottenham midfield, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
The 24-year-old has been quite impressive for Chelsea this season and he has been a key player for them. He could improve Tottenham immensely with his work rate and pressing ability. The hard-working Chelsea midfielder would be the ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system and he could be the ideal replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Tottenham are well-placed to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they will be hoping to compete for major trophies next year. They will need to plug the gaps in their squad in order to do well and signing a quality central midfielder should be a top priority.
Tottenham have done well to improve the defensive unit this season and they should bring in a quality midfielder and a striker in the summer.
Gallagher is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Tottenham if the transfer goes through.
