Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to make a move for the Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey at the end of the season.
It is no secret that Tottenham looking to bring in a quality midfielder and they were linked with Conor Gallagher during the summer transfer window and in January.
Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed on Give Me Sport that Ramsey could be a better fit compared to the Chelsea man. Tottenham have put together an impressive squad full of talent and Ramsey would be another quality addition to their squad.
The 22-year-old has certainly established himself as one of the most gifted young midfielders in the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if Aston Villa are prepared to cash in on him.
Ramsey can operate as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He has the technical attributes and flair to slot into multiple roles. He will add creativity, drive and craft to the Tottenham midfield if he joins the club.
Jones believes that the Aston Villa midfielder is likely to cost around the £50 million mark and therefore the asking price would be similar to that of Gallagher. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to consider a move for the Aston Villa player in the coming months.
“I think Tottenham should have a level of interest in Ramsey. I think when you consider what he’s brought so far to the Premier League with Aston Villa compared to what Gallagher would have brought, I think there would be a definite argument you could put up that Ramsey could be as good a fit, if not a better fit for Tottenham. The problem you’ve got is that the starting price will be pretty similar to where you’re at with Gallagher anyway if you’re looking at the £50m mark. That was off-putting to Tottenham across the winter transfer window.”
Ramsey has the tools to develop into a top class Premier League midfielder and Ange Postecoglou could nurture him into a star. While the asking price might seem steep right now, the player could justify the investment in the coming seasons
