Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 2-0 win over Manchester United yesterday.
Goals from Pape Matar Sarr and an own goal from Lisandro Martinez helped the north London outfit secure an impressive away win at Old Trafford.
However, pundit Craig Burley was unimpressed with the performance of Brazilian striker Richarlison.
The former Everton striker has not been able to live up to the expectations since his move to Tottenham and his performance against Manchester United was rather underwhelming.
Burley has claimed that Richarlison was pretty irrelevant in the game and his holdup play was below par.
He has suggested that Tottenham should look to bring in a proper replacement for Harry Kane if Richarlison fails to step up.
“They’re doing it without a guy up front who’s great,” he told ESPN. “That’s the bottom line.
“Once again, he was pretty irrelevant in this game. He threw himself about. His hold-up play wasn’t the best. We saw the chance that Antony had, that came from the ball up to Richarlison. Because the defender was tight to him, he lost it.
“So either he needs to step up, or they need to get somebody before the end of the window.”
Kane is undoubtedly one of the best goal-scorers in Premier League history and replacing him will not be an easy task for the north London club.
The 30-year-old was more than just a goal scorer and his playmaking abilities added a new dimension to the Tottenham attack.
Richarlison is clearly struggling right now and it remains to be seen whether he can replace the England international in the coming weeks.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of attackers in recent weeks and it will be interesting to see if they decide to bring in a quality replacement for the England international.
Richarlison had an underwhelming campaign last year and he hasn’t been at his best in the Premier League so far.
The Brazilian international clearly has the quality to step up and be a key player for Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his best in the coming weeks.
