“Bring him back” – Tottenham urged to bring back one player from his loan spell

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham have been urged to recall Alejo Veliz from his loan spell in La Liga, with the young Argentinean striker struggling to secure regular playing time.

Veliz, who joined Spurs in a six-year deal from Rosario Central for a reported transfer fee of €15 million, made eight appearances in the Premier League before being loaned to La Liga side Sevilla in January to aid in his development.

However, the move hasn’t gone as planned, as Veliz has only managed three appearances totaling just 23 minutes in the Spanish top flight.

Bryan King believes Tottenham should be loaning him to clubs in England

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King has advised Tottenham to recall him from his loan spell at Sevilla and instead loan him to English clubs, which he believes would be more beneficial.

King drew a parallel to Harry Kane’s successful loan spells early in his Spurs career which helped him develop into one of the best strikers in the world.

Speaking to Tottenham News, he said:

“Tottenham would be wise to bring him back to the club and send him on loan somewhere else where he is going to play.

“Veliz needs to go back to Tottenham and start again. A loan move in England would be more beneficial, it certainly didn’t do Harry Kane any harm during his early Spurs career.

“He still has a chance to rebuild but it doesn’t look as if he will be doing that with Sevilla.”

Alejo Veliz has struggled for playing time this season

With neither Spurs, Sevilla, nor Veliz benefiting significantly from the loan arrangement, questions have been raised about the best course of action for all parties involved.

Spurs have yet to see returns from Veliz’s loan stint, while the player’s lack of playing time has hindered his progress.

Sevilla’s Director of Football, Victor Orta, has also faced criticism for the signing, adding to the complexities of the situation.
