Arab News Sport on X is reporting growing uncertainty over Ivan Toney’s future with Al Ahli. The club has reportedly begun exploring attacking alternatives in case of his departure. One report by Fichajes at the end of last year suggested that Ivan was less than fully motivated and “tiring of Saudi after mere months.”

This has sparked several theories being pumped out by respected social media accounts. Indykaila suggests that Thomas Frank has already spoken directly to his former Brentford striker.

The latest claim Tottenham are plotting a January loan move for Toney. Crucially, new Spurs head coach Thomas Frank has contacted Toney about joining Spurs on loan.
Frank managed Toney at Brentford, where the striker scored 36 Premier League goals over four seasons.

Spurs need attacking depth as neither Richarlison nor Solanke have worked out. The idea of a striker is Toney’s physicality, hold-up play, and aerial presence would complement Spurs’ other deeper lying attacking options and provide a proven Premier League goal threat.

There is also the slim possibility of a loan, which could be low-risk, with an option to buy if he revives his England hopes; he currently has 6 caps.

Chelsea is also exploring a January loan, per the same sources. Al-Ahli may demand a fee for any deal, and Toney’s high wages could require subsidies. No bids have been submitted yet—it’s early speculation, at this stage, but too exciting to simply ignore.

Yes, there have been mixed reactions; there’s general excitement over the Frank-Toney link, but caution due to Toney’s betting ban history and Saudi ‘step back’, However, Spurs have a goal-scoring issue, and until it is meaningfully addressed, we cannot be deemed as a serious threat to anyone.
