Tottenham transfer target in contract standoff: club monitoring the situation; Ange a ‘big fan’ of him

There have been a lot of reports regarding Conor Gallagher and a potential move to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The North London club’s interest in the Chelsea midfielder is not new. They tried to sign him in the summer as well but failed after Chelsea decided against selling him,

But recent reports from The Athletic indicate Tottenham’s persistence in pursuing Gallagher, should he become available for transfer in January.

Conor Gallagher has been an important player for Chelsea this season, and Pochettino has acknowledged his significance and commitment to Chelsea’s values.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, in his update for The Daily Briefing, highlighted the ongoing uncertainties surrounding Gallagher’s contract negotiations with Chelsea.

Romano suggested that if the situation remains unresolved, Chelsea might consider selling Gallagher if presented with a significant offer.

Tottenham, monitoring the situation closely, holds a keen interest in the player, particularly with their midfield facing significant absences due to injuries and AFCON commitments.

Romano said:

“Mauricio Pochettino is happy with him, but now the player and club have to decide what they want to do.”

“There’s still no agreement on a new deal and if the situation doesn’t change, Chelsea could be open to selling Conor in case of an important proposal.”

“Tottenham keep following this situation closely because Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the player.”

Gallagher emerges as a viable option to address the void created by these absences, potentially providing the necessary depth and quality to bolster Tottenham’s midfield ranks.
