Tottenham told to move quickly or end up paying more for 28-year-old utility man

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window.

It is believed that they have an option to sign the player permanently at the end of the season. A report via Daily Express claims that the German club are now demanding an answer on the 28-year-old striker’s long-term future before the European championships.

Spurs can sign the player permanently for a fee of around £14.5 million, but they will have to exercise the clause within the previously informed date. If they fail to do so, Tottenham will still be able to sign the player permanently, but they will have to renegotiate the fee with the German club and therefore they will end up paying more.

It will be interesting to see what Tottenham decide in the coming weeks.

Werner has been a useful player for them and he has picked up two goals and two assist across all competitions. He is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three and Tottenham could use a versatile attacker like him.

For the reported asking price, he should prove to be a value for money signing and Spurs should look to keep him at the club beyond this season. Werner does not have a future at RB Leipzig and therefore staying at the north London club will be ideal for him.

The player will look to continue improving in the coming months and establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the near future.
