Tottenham to return for 23-year-old summer target as rivals look to put him up for sale in January

By Saikat -

Chelsea could look to sell Conor Gallagher when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 23-year-old was expected to sign a new contract with the Premier League club, but a report from Daily Mail claims that a shock transfer in January could be on the cards as Chelsea look to comply with the Premier League spending rules.

Apparently, sources at the club believe that it would make financial sense to sell the player and Tottenham Hotspur could be interested if he becomes available.

The England international has 18 months left on his contract at the Premier League club and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea decide to sanction his departure midway through the season.

The player came close to joining Tottenham last summer and the North London outfit could return for him once again. Tottenham are in desperate need of quality reinforcements and they have a number of key players ruled out with injury.

They will need to add more depth to the squad in order to finish the season strongly and secure UEFA Champions League qualification. Gallagher could prove to be a superb addition.

He will add pressing ability, defensive cover and energy to the Spurs midfield. The 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder has a high work-rate and he could be the ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.

If Tottenham can promise him ample game time, the player is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for them.
