Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou.
The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for the German club this season and he has helped them compete for the league title. A report from SportBild via SportWitness claims that Manchester United are keen on securing his services as well.
The defender is valued at €50 million (£43m) and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham and Manchester United are prepared to break the bank for him.
It would be quite surprising if Tottenham decided to pay that kind of money for another central defender, especially after signing Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season.
Manchester United, on the other hand, need to bring in a quality central defender and the 23-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment for them. They will need to replace players like Jonny Evans at the end of the season and Kossounou would be an upgrade.
The 23-year-old defender will be tempted to move to the Premier League and the opportunity to play for clubs like Tottenham and Manchester United will certainly be an exciting proposition for him. Spurs are currently fifth in the league table and they will be an attractive destination for players if they manage to secure Champions League qualification for the next season.
It will be interesting to see if they decide to follow up on their interest with a concrete offer to sign the defender at the end of the season.
