Tottenham have suffered yet another injury setback as summer signing, Yves Bissouma, will be unable to play in Saturday’s upcoming match.

The former Brighton midfielder has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot and will undergo surgery on Friday to repair the injury.

The club has confirmed the news in a statement released on their official website, in which they also stated that the return date for Bissouma will be determined after the surgery is performed.

Since joining the club in the summer, Bissouma has made 20 appearances in the Premier League, but most of them have come as a substitute.

Despite not being a first-choice player, Tottenham will need all the help they can get as they enter a busy period in the season, with a series of crucial games coming up, including their Champions League tie against AC Milan.

The statement released by the club read:

“We can confirm that Yves Bissouma is to undergo surgery on Friday to repair a stress fracture to his left ankle. A timeframe for the midfielder’s return to training will be determined after surgery. He will begin rehabilitation with our medical staff as soon as possible.”

In addition to Bissouma’s absence, Tottenham will also be without Hugo Lloris who is set to be out for 8 weeks and center-back Cristian Romero, who will be suspended for the weekend’s game after receiving two yellow cards and being sent off during their 1-0 win against Manchester City.

With so many crucial games coming up, the club will need as many players available as possible.

Manager Antonio Conte will be hoping that the recent injuries to Hugo Lloris and Bissouma do not derail their season as they fight to secure a top 4 finish and make progress in both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Tottenham have a chance to end their trophy drought and Conte will be hoping that he is the one who achieves this.
