Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Juventus defender Gleison Bremer at the end of the season.
According to a report from Calcio Mercato Web, Newcastle United are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old Brazilian defender as well. Apparently, the two Premier League clubs are ‘strongly interested’ in the player and they are ‘ready to invest’ in him this summer.
Bremer joined Juventus at the start of the season and he has established himself as a key player for the Italian giants. The Brazilian has four goals and an assist to his name across all competitions and he has been solid at the back for Max Allegri.
Bremer is reportedly valued at €45-50 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham and Newcastle are prepared to pay that kind of money for him.
It is no secret that Tottenham will have to bring in a top-quality defender this summer and Bremer could be the ideal long-term partner for Cristian Romero.
Tottenham have been quite vulnerable defensively and they have conceded 14 goals in the last four league matches. They will have to tighten up at the back if they want to challenge for trophies next season.
Bremer is comfortable playing on the left side of the central defence as well as on the right. He can operate in a back four as well as a back three. The Brazilian has the ability to thrive in English football and it remains to be seen whether he is prepared to leave Juventus after just one season at the club.
