Tottenham star makes honest admission about his poor reaction to getting subbed

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son admitted that he regretted the way he reacted upon being substituted against Fulham.

Son was one of the stars of the show for Spurs with the South Korean scoring the opener with a stunning curling effort from the edge of the box.

He then turned provider for James Maddison in the second half with a perfectly timed pass which the midfielder finished expertly past Leno.

But when Ange decided to take Son off in the 82nd minute to replace him with summer signing Alejo Veliz, the reaction from the captain was not the best.

He was visibly frustrated by the manager’s decision to take him off which he later admitted was not the right way to act.

Speaking with Spurs Play after the game via X, Son said:

“As a player I want to always be on the pitch and I think this situation is a little bit of frustration.

“But I think when you see the player coming on, it should be a really happy moment, because when you see the player coming on it’s a young lad who is working really hard in training.

“They deserve to play. I think when I’m thinking now I am just regretting it a little bit because I should give more support for them.

“But I think they did a fantastic job to get a clean sheet today as well and I am very happy to see young lads coming on to play in this fantastic stadium.”

Son has been in hot form this season, scoring 7 goals and assisting 1 in 9 games so far.

It is no surprise that Ange took him off considering Son had an injury scare during the international break.

He is one of his most important players which is why managing his fitness is extremely important.
