Heung-min Son has dismissed speculations about a potential groin injury, providing Spurs fans with a reassuring update regarding his fitness.
The South Korean international , now shouldering an even more prominent role following Harry Kane’s departure, has become a key figure upfront for Tottenham.
He had a difficult spell last year mainly due to injuries and poor form but is back to his best this season having already scored 8 league goals in 12 games for Spurs.
This includes a hat-trick against Burnley, a brace against Arsenal and one against Liverpool.
Addressing concerns about a possible injury, Son clarified to Yonhap News Agency that minor knocks during games, including getting stepped on or kicked, are common.
He assured fans of his excellent physical condition, citing typical game-related experiences and mentioning only jet lag disrupting his sleep pattern.
He said (via Last Word On Spurs):
“When playing a game, you get stepped on or kicked. I kick myself sometimes. Other than not being able to sleep due to jet lag, I’m in good physical condition.”
The news of Son’s fitness is a relief for Tottenham fans.
Already in the absence of James Maddison, they lack creativity upfront as evident against Wolves. A Son injury at this point would have been a disaster.
Son will be playing against Singapore and China for his country to help them qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Spurs will be hoping for an injury-free return from Son and their other internationals.
Their upcoming league fixture against Aston Villa presents a tough challenge.
Eager to bounce back from consecutive defeats, Tottenham will face a big test against Unai Emery’s formidable Villa side.
