Tottenham star gets mugged while on holidays with his wife

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma recently fell victim to a violent attack and mugging outside a luxury hotel in Cannes, France.

The incident unfolded as the Mali international and his wife arrived at the prestigious five-star Majestic Barriere hotel in Cannes last weekend.

According to reports from The Sun, two hooded assailants ambushed Bissouma as he exited his car around 4 am on Sunday. The attackers sprayed tear gas in his face and made off with his £260,000 watch.

Left in shock, Bissouma and his wife attempted to seek refuge inside the hotel, only to find the doors locked. The assailants fled the scene swiftly.

Following the traumatic incident, Bissouma and his wife cut short their planned stay at the French resort and returned to England later that Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur have issued a statement expressing their concern and support for Bissouma and his family in the wake of the attack.

The club stated (via The Sun):

“We are aware of the incident involving Yves Bissouma in Cannes. Our primary concern is for Yves and his family, and we will continue to monitor their well-being closely.”

Bissouma had an impressive season under Ange Postecoglou, playing a key role for the Australian in his first season at the club.

Him alongside Pape Matar Sarr was the preferred midfield duo, with the manager choosing the duo ahead of the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.

He is likely to remain a key part of Ange’s plans for next season despite the club seeking another central midfielder in the summer.
