Tottenham star breaks silence after being heavily criticised by fans following Bournemouth defeat

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat against Bournemouth left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans and players alike.

While the loss was disappointing for the team as a whole, it appears to have taken a particular toll on right-back Pedro Porro.

After the match, Porro deactivated his social media accounts, including Twitter and Instagram. It’s believed that this decision was a response to the online abuse he received from fans in the wake of the defeat.

The match against Bournemouth was a rollercoaster affair, with Spurs taking an early lead before ultimately succumbing to a 3-2 defeat. Defensive errors were a key factor in the loss, and Porro was among the players responsible for the first two goals.

Unfortunately, some fans took to social media to express their frustration in an abusive manner. This likely contributed to Porro’s decision to deactivate his accounts.

After a few days away from social media, Porro has now reactivated his profiles and shared a cryptic message for fans.

His tweet translates to: “You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only option you have left. Thanks for the love messages.”

It’s clear from his tweet that Porro had a difficult time dealing with his mistakes against Bournemouth and the subsequent abuse from some fans. However, he also expressed gratitude for the messages of support he received.

Porro joined Spurs in the January transfer window and after taking a few games to adapt, has quickly become one of their best players in recent weeks.

While the performance against Bournemouth was a setback, manager Cristian Stellini will no doubt be hoping that the Spaniard can bounce back stronger as the team enters the final stretch of the season in pursuit of a top-four finish.
