Tottenham star admits his future at the club is uncertain

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has spoken out about his uncertain future in the wake of a successful loan spell at Sampdoria.

In an interview with Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, the player revealed that he does not yet know where he will be playing next season.

Winks joined Sampdoria on loan in 2021, after falling out of favour at Tottenham under manager Antonio Conte.

He initially struggled to make an impact in Italy due this ankle issues, but has become a key player for the club in recent games.

Speaking about his time at Sampdoria, Winks said:

“I’m satisfied with this experience. I don’t know what my future will be after June and I don’t even think about it now. I’m only looking at the next match, but I was pleased to have made this choice last year, I’m proud of it.”

Winks also revealed that no one from Tottenham has contacted him since he joined the Italian club, not even their manager.

He said: “No one from Tottenham has contacted me, not even the manager. I was and remain totally focused on Sampdoria.”

With Conte set to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, Winks could still have a future at the North London club under former manager Mauricio Pochettino under whom he enjoyed his best time at Spurs.

However, he has not yet been given any indication of whether he will be welcomed back.

Winks joined Tottenham’s academy in 2012 and made his senior debut for the club in 2014. He has made over 203 appearances for the club, but fell down the pecking order in recent seasons.

Whether he will return to Tottenham or continue his career elsewhere remains to be seen.
