“Not at all” – Heung-min Son makes surprise claim about Tottenham’s season

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive form in the Premier League continues under Ange Postecoglou despite the injuries, as the club sits inside the top four, currently positioned 4th with 47 points.

While Spurs are actively competing for a Champions League spot, one cannot dismiss the possibility of a potential title charge from them.

Several players and managers from rival clubs, including Kevin De Bruyne, Declan Rice and even Jurgen Klopp, have all refused to rule Spurs out of the title race.

However, Tottenham’s captain, Son Heung-min, holds a different perspective on the matter, emphasising the team’s focus on securing a Champions League qualification rather than entertaining thoughts of a title push.

According to Son, Tottenham have not considered themselves contenders for the Premier League title, prioritising consistent performance and achieving their objectives.

When asked whether the squad members are thinking about a possible Premier League title charge, Son replied (via The Mirror):

“Not at all.

“We are doing our best from our position and [what is] expected of us. There are so many contenders. There are so many favourites. Man City, Liverpool are flying now. From our position, we want to give our best and at the end of the season we are where we take it.”

TBH Says:

While some may view this approach as lacking in ambition, it reflects a deliberate strategy within the team, focusing on the present and taking each game as it comes.

With Tottenham still within striking distance of the league leaders, Liverpool, sitting just 7 points behind, the possibility of a late-season title charge is not entirely impossible, especially considering their recent form.
