Tottenham shortlist 26-year-old Premier League ace as summer target

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Leeds United defender Robin Koch.

The 26-year-old German has been a useful player for Leeds since joining the club from Freiburg. As per Football Insider, Tottenham want to sign the player in order to add more depth and quality to their backline.

It is no secret that Spurs will have to bring in defensive reinforcements at the end of the season and Koch could prove to be a superb acquisition.

The 26-year-old is currently well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at the London club.

The opportunity to join Tottenham could be an attractive proposition for him. A move from Leeds to Spurs would be a step up in the player’s career and he might get to experience European football with them.

Tottenham are currently pushing for Champions League qualification and if they manage to finish in the top four, they will be an attractive destination for players.

On the other hand, Leeds are currently fighting relegation and they could lose a number of key players if they go down to the Championship at the end of the season.

A player of Koch’s quality will not want to play in the Championship next season and we could look to leave the club in the summer if Leeds fail to avoid relegation.

Furthermore, players like Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga have been linked with moves away from Spurs in the coming months and the Londoners will have to replace them adequately. Clement Lenglet is set to return to his parent club upon the expiry of his loan deal as well.

Koch could prove to be a handy option for the London club next season.
