Tottenham are ready to sanction the departure of their full-back Emerson Royal for a fee of around €20 million.
The Brazilian international has gone down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou and he is keen on a move away from Tottenham in search of regular first-team action.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Emerson Royal ‘wants the move’ to AC Milan with Spurs looking to raise around €20 million from his sale.
After a failed Barcelona move, Emerson Royal ended up joining the North London club in the summer of 2021. He was an integral part of Spurs’ first team but a lot has changed since Ange Postecoglou has taken over as the club’s new manager.
The Brazilian full-back has only featured in 24 matches and has been on the pitch for less than 1,400 minutes. He is clearly not a key part of the Australian manager’s plans going forward.
Emerson is frustrated with his situation at the London club and wants a move away. AC Milan are the ones keen on acquiring the services of the 25-year-old right-back. The Italian giants want to strengthen the full-back position and they feel the Brazilian could be a great acquisition.
He can feature on both flanks and can even start in the heart of the defence when needed. His versatility could be a great boost for Milan. Agreeing on personal terms is unlikely to be an issue.
It will be interesting to see if the Italian outfit are ready to pay the asking price for the versatile Brazilian defender in the coming weeks. Tottenham are unlikely to let him leave for cheap, especially when he has been a useful squad player.
