Tottenham ‘seriously considering’ a move for summer target valued at £50m

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the season.

The 23-year-old is reportedly up for grabs this month and Tottenham are now ‘seriously considering’ a move for him before the January window closes as per The Times. Gallagher was valued at £50 million at the start of the season and Spurs were unwilling to pay that kind of money for him back then.

It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to pay a premium for the England international this month. Chelsea are prepared to sell the player for a substantial price in order to balance their books.

Chelsea have been spending freely since their takeover and they need to comply with the financial fair play regulations.

Gallagher could be an excellent addition to the Tottenham midfield, and he seems like the ideal fit for their style of play on paper. The hard-working midfielder will help out defensively and his pressing ability could prove to be invaluable for Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks and Gallagher could be the ideal replacement. The 28-year-old Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at the North London club and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time.

With just a couple of days remaining in the January transfer window, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get rid of their fringe players and sign Gallagher to improve their midfield.
