Tottenham senior figures ready to sell £90k-a-week star in January to improve problem position

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are now prepared to sell Richarlison when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 26-year-old Brazilian international has struggled since his £60 million move to the North London club in the summer of 2022. It appears that Tottenham are not prepared to cut their losses on him and senior figures at the club want his departure to fund a move for a central defender as per Football Insider.

With Micky van de Ven sidelined, Tottenham need to bring in a quality defender and they are hoping to raise funds by selling Richarlison.

The 26-year-old Brazilian has scored just five goals in 48 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions since joining the club. It is evident that the transfer has not worked out and it would be ideal for both parties to go separate ways.

Apparently, clubs in Saudi Arabia are keen on signing the £90k-a-week Brazilian striker and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to submit a substantial offer to Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with several central defenders and it remains to be seen who they end up signing. They will have to bring in a reliable partner for Cristian Romero.

Van de Ven is sidelined with an injury and Eric Dier has been linked with a move away from the club in January. Bringing in defensive reinforcements should be a top priority for the north London club, who have struggled at the back recently.

They will want to secure Champions League qualification and signing the right players in January could prove to be defining for them.
