Tottenham risk upsetting Ange by selling player he really likes

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham could risk upsetting Ange Postecoglou by selling a midfielder he reportedly has developed a liking for.

Spurs have had two successful transfer windows, having bought a number of players who have come in and made an instant impact, establishing themselves as key players under Ange.

But they are not done rebuilding the squad as reports suggest that they have already began identiying targets for the summer window.

As per journalist Graeme Bailey, Spurs are engaged in talks with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. He also reports that Rabiot is seen as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

He claims that ‘Ange quite likes’ the Danish midfielder, but the club may opt to move him due to his current standing in the team and his wages.

Speaking to The Spurs News, he said:

“From what we’re hearing, they do want another midfielder in. We expect Hojbjerg to leave in the summer if they can find someone.

“Ange quite likes Hojbjerg, from I’m told, but in terms of his salary and standing in the squad, they’re ready to move on and so is he.”

With less than 18 months remaining on his current contract, which expires in June 2025, there have been no updates regarding a possible contract extension for Hojbjerg.

Under Ange Postecoglou, the 28-year-old has seen himself fall down the pecking order, featuring in 25 league matches but starting only 6. He has primarily served as a substitute, often coming on in the latter stages of the game.
