Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old central defender was linked with a move to Tottenham during the January transfer window, but the north London club failed to secure an agreement with the French outfit.
Back then, Nice slapped a €60 million price tag on the defender, and it will be interesting to see if they lower their demands during the summer transfer window. According to Nice Matin, the asking price could come down to €40 million this summer.
However, Spurs are not the only English club keen on signing him and they will face competition from Manchester United.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can win the race for his signature this time around. It is no secret that they need to bring in another quality central defender and the Frenchman has established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1.
He has proven himself in the French league and he has the attributes to succeed in English football as well. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham and Manchester United.
Spurs have looked vulnerable defensively in the last few weeks of the season and they need another reliable central defender. Todibo could compete with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for the starting spot next season. Competition for places will help both teams improve.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will part ways with Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans soon. They need to beef up their defensive unit as well. It will be interesting to see if they can beat Spurs to his signature.
If he is available for €40 million, both clubs should be able to afford him, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition at that price.
