Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing a quality replacement for Fraser Forster in the coming months.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper will be a free agent at the end of the season and Spurs are hoping to replace him adequately, as per Give Me Sport. Tottenham need a reliable backup option to Guglielmo Vicario, and it will be interesting to see if they can bring in a quality goalkeeper over the next few months.

Forster has been a useful player for Tottenham, but he is in the twilight stages of his career. It seems highly unlikely that Tottenham offer an extension to the £77,000 a week footballer.

It would make sense for Tottenham to invest in a younger keeper with a higher potential. They have been linked with Caoimhin Kelleher.

Meanwhile, a report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham will step up their pursuit of a goalkeeper in January. Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown has revealed that signing a goalkeeper is now a priority for Tottenham in January.

Brown said: “It looks like being something they’ll prioritise in January.

“I think there are probably more important positions to address, like signing a new centre-back, but that’s something they want to do.

“All of Tottenham’s struggles so far this season have come down to their defensive issues, and I’d include the goalkeeper in that.

It remains to be seen who they end up with. The goalkeeping department is clearly in need of reinforcements and Tottenham should look to bring in a talented young goalkeeper who can fight for the starting spot with Vicario.

They will be hoping to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season, but their performances have been quite inconsistent so far. It will be interesting to see if they can improve the squad adequately in January and put together a consistent run of results over the next few months.
